Downton Abbey: A New Era — Global Media Event in the United Kingdom

Continuing the tradition of global press events for Universal Home Entertainment titles, MKM worked alongside the studio to facilitate an incredible three-day excursion across the United Kingdom countryside to promote Downton Abbey: A New Era’s Digital and Blu-ray release in the US and Canada. MKM led North American press and influencer outreach in addition to full media oversight and management of the event. 

Director Simon Curtis, stars Jim Carter and Raquel Cassidy and Costume Designer Anna Robbins completed 65 interviews to discuss their work on the film. Press and influencers were given an exclusive experience in the countryside at filming locations Belchamp Hall and Wrest Park. At Belchamp, they explored the church setting where Tom and Lucy got married as well as enjoying a costume display, etiquette classes and flower arranging lessons. Wrest Park – the home of the French villa in the film – hosted the attendees with garden tours of the grounds. All activities culminated in a fun 1920s-inspired flapper party giving the press a fond farewell from their Downton Abbey adventures. 


As a result of the trip, the coverage has generated a total of 330 social media posts promoting the home entertainment release, and editorial coverage from outlets including
SCREENRANT.COM, INSIDER.com, COLLIDER.COM, CINEMABLEND.COM, SALON.COM, SLASHFILM.COM, PASTEMAGAZINE.COM and WOMANSDAY.COM. To date, the trip has generated 56 editorial breaks, while the social media breaks have a potential reach of 27.6mm from follower count.
